What is Reiki?

Definition: Rei means spiritual wisdom and ki means energy, so Reiki translates as "spiritual energy".
Reiki is an alternative and complimentary therapy that provides the soothing comfort of touch. Reiki is an "energy medicine" with similarities to other hands-on healing practices such as Therapuetic Touch. Reiki is a healing system that channels universal life-force energy.

Reiki can only provide positive results and will flow where it is needed. Reiki will balance energy levels and chakra centers which stimulates healing. A Reiki session puts one into a deep state of relaxation and thus provides stress reduction, which in turn allows the body to return to it's normal state of health.
Reiki is not a religion. One can practice any religion (or none) and benefit from Reiki.
Reiki is a healing system that benefits both people and animals alike.
Above: Chakra Centers of the horse
Reiki sessions are given in conjunction with crystal therapy at the chakra centers to balance the flow of energy. The word "chakra" is Sanskrit which translates to "wheel" or "spinning wheel". If the chakra centers are balanced they spin or rotate. There are seven major chakra centers. If there is a blockage in a particular chakra center, it could manifest as physical illness. There is strong connection between emotions and physical health. If the emotions are out of balance, physical illness can also manifest.

A combination of Reiki, chakra balancing, crystal therapy, reflexology and acupressure can facilitate and accelerate the treatment of many conditions such as:
Pain
Depression
Headaches
Weight Loss/Eating Disorders
Panic Attacks
Sleep Disorders
Lethargy
Reduce the side effects - and enhance the healing effects of medication, just to name a few ......

Sports Massage and Reiki help to provide muscle relaxation allowing your horse to focus on instruction, rather than stiffness, soreness or fatigue. Add a series of sports massage and reiki to your horse's show or riding season and you will notice a difference!.

Equine Sports Massage Therapy sessions are available by a Certified ESMT.

Ellie has just received an equine sports massage (8/15/09)- and it has put her to sleep! Now that's relaxing!
Treatments typically last 1 1/2 hours. Results are often immediate and dramatic. There are many advantages of Equine Sports Massage Therapy, including improved circulation of synovial fluid to the joints, which can ease arthritic pain, decrease swelling,
decrease and/or eliminate behavior problems associated with sore or stressed muscles, improved blood cirulation and oxygenation of muscles, relaxation and improved focus, enhanced performance, decrease or elimination of symptoms of lameness and "tying up".

especially the working performance horse, race horse, event horse, the jumper, show horse, dressage horse, the trail horse and the pleasure horse. Each discipline has a specific muscle use and over-use which will naturally cause inflammation or knotting. Sports Massage applies the techniques of acupressure and deep tissue massage, in specific muscle fiber locations to release spasms.
If you see no improvement of the condition with three treatments, you should consult with your veterinarian, farrier or equine dentist.
